Wedding Cocktail with Rose Wine Floater

The crisis of “should I have wine or a cocktail?” is something we hear at weddings all the time! Might seem silly, but the struggle to answer this question is real 🙂 …and then an idea came to us. Lets combine the best of both worlds of booze and wine, and “marry” them into a cocktail that will quickly solve the drinking dilemma. Of course, the New York sour came to mind. The classic whisky sour topped with red wine is a gorgeous cocktail, but there was something about red wine and white dresses that didn’t sit well with us. Luckily, we live in a California, where we are literally obsessed with Rose.

Summertime in Cali just screams light cocktails, so it was no brainer for us to replace the heavy Cabernet with a soft pink Rose and swap the boozy bourbon with smooth vodka. Enter the “Above and Beyond”

We added some St. Germain, fresh lemon juice and just a kiss of pear brandy and we ended up with a delicious and quite eye catching cocktail worthy of any wedding bar.

The “Above and Beyond” is really easy to make and quite the crowd pleaser. Another bar quality cocktail you can make at home.

Wedding Cocktail with Rose Wine Floater

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Vodka (we used Titos)
  • 0.75 oz St.Germain
  • 0.75 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
  • 0.50 oz Clear Creek Pear Brandy
  • 1 oz Rose Wine (we used Gerard Bertrand Cote Des Roses)
  • Edible Flower (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a cocktail shaker, combine vodka, St. Germain, fresh lemon juice and pear brandy. Add ice and shake vigorously for 10-15 seconds

  2. Stain over a large ice cube (or just a glass filled with ice)

  3. Float the Rose wine by pouring it slowly over a spoon held just above the drink’s surface

  4. Garnish with an edible flower. Chin Chin

Recipe Notes

If you don't have pear brandy, an ounce of pressed pear juice would be a good substitute.
